What does every new online business need?
Something to sell. Content. Ebooks. Digital products.
Not a problem if you already have products created that you can sell. Not so much if you’re someone who is looking for a way to start your own profitable business and you are just getting started.
Enter PLR. Private Label Rights.
These are products, usually digital ebooks and/or videos, that you can, once you buy them, sell them as your own. Before you start thinking how easy that would be and how much money you will be able to make, let’s pause to consider a few points…
What Is The Quality Of The PLR?
If you are only interested in something you can buy and then sell without making any changes to the product, you might want to slow down a bit.
Take a look at what you just bought. Read the ebook or watch the videos. In my experience, a lot of times, it is hard to read and follow what I’m reading and seeing. Some of the content is rambling and doesn’t read well at all.
This is especially true for very low cost PLR. It may seem like a good deal, and you might get a package of 10 to 12 ebooks for a low price. What you should keep in mind is that if it was so good, why are they selling it for such a low price.
A low cost is not a reason to pass on PLR. Just make sure that you go through the content before you decide to use it as a bonus or to sell it on your site.
How Do You Find Good PLR?
One thing that you can do is the old standby of doing a search and see what comes up. You will be presented with sites that sell PLR, sites that list the best places to buy PLR, and reviews of PLR membership sites.
Once you come up with a list of sites that you think might be worth a shot, all you can do to find out is to make a purchase and see what you end up with. I would make sure not to spend a lot on the first purchase. If what you get is worth it, you have found yourself a real gem.
Here's another thing to think about. How many copies are being made available?
I have seen some offers for PLR that are low cost, and they are selling hundreds of copies. If you try to use it, you wouldn’t want to use it as is. If your new subscriber or customer pays you for something that they already have, you’ll have an angry customer and a refund.
On the other hand, another way to look at it is that maybe most people who buy PLR never use it, so you’ll be OK. To be safe, I always edit and rewrite my PLR, and add new graphics and some new content. Just saying…
My Favorite Option
For my money, I prefer PLR that has a limit on how many people can buy the PLR rights to the product. One marketer that I have a ton of respect for offers a new report for sale. He sells as many as he can, but on the purchase page, there is an option to upgrade the offer to get the PLR license for an additional fee. And he limits the number of licenses to 50 or 100 ( depending on the offer).
By doing this, you can be sure of 2 things. First, the product is selling. Second, there won’t be a lot of competition to go against. This can be more expensive, but the advantage is that the quality is so good that you could sell it as is, if you decided to. And you know that the content is something that you would feel good about selling.

When you buy a PLR product, you will get a document, or license that will tell you what you can do with it, and more importantly what you can't. Be sure to read the permissions on the sales page before you purchase. Once you have it downloaded to your computer, read the license that is included.
Some of the restrictions may have a minimum price that you can sell it for, and if it can be given away, or only as a bonus. One thing you will usually see is that you can't offer your buyers the PLR rights to the product. Make sure to check and double check before you start using your product.
In Closing...
PLR can be a great addition to your business. The only way to know is to get your hand on a PLR license and see what you get. Use it as a free gift for new subscribers, as a bonus for an affiliate promotion, or as part a content package that you are selling.
Another way to use PLR, even the poorly written stuff, is to use it as a framework that you can edit into something really good. You can take a report on getting new subscribers, delete the content of the chapters, and start from there.
You still have the chapter headings, and you can change those. You can add and change the subheads as well. This gives you an outline that you can fill in. It saves you time, gives your report structure, and now you can put in content that you can sell with pride because you know that you have shared some really good info that is going to help your customers.
